Get your dance card ready for The Queer Shift at The Workers Club.
Join us for an afternoon of music, movement, and community supported by Yarra City Council for Leaps and Bounds Festival. We’ll be serving up a stellar lineup of local queer artists, DJs, and creatives who are reshaping the sound of Naarm.
Featuring:
June Jones – Confessional singer, fictional songwriter, and powerhouse performer. Fresh from appearances at Mardi Gras and Dark Mofo, June is teasing her upcoming EP (out this August via EPR) with singles Be Honest and Bachelorette. Her shows are equal parts pop spectacle and emotional catharsis.
Naycab – Gunai/Kurnai, Gunditjmara, Wiradjuri and Yorta Yorta writer and selector whose DJ sets are steeped in techno, house, acid, and queer dance history. Known for unforgettable appearances at Strawberry Fields and Naarm’s best queer parties, Nayuka blends archival curiosity with bold, floor-filling energy.
Lupa J – A self-produced electro-pop force blending lush production with raw vulnerability. With a sound that’s both cinematic and club-ready, Lupa is redefining the boundaries of pop.
Also featuring:
Dark Water – Naarm’s synthwave heartbreakers. With their mournful 80s-inspired sound and hypnotic rhythm section, they’ve supported legends like DAF and local icons RVG, HEXDEBT, and Jen Cloher. Expect shimmering sorrow and serious synths.
Tom Foolery – A rising figure in Naarm’s queer club scene, known for high-octane sets spanning house, progressive and tech.
Plus:
Kitty and Lulu from Disco Rodeo Boot Scooting kick off the day with a bootscootin’ hoedown, while
Bae Marie keeps the front bar buzzing with their special brand of camp chaos, hosting bingo throughout the afternoon.
Presented by Alex Morris with support from Yarra City Council and The Workers Club.
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people as the Traditional Owners and true sovereigns of the land now known as Yarra. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded and that this land always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We celebrate the incredible contribution that queer First Nations people make to the culture and creativity of our community.
